Dean Friedman of ‘You Can Thank Your Lucky Stars’ coming to Moray
Dean Friedman, who topped the charts in the 1970s, will be performing in the North East next month.
Hailed as one of the finest songwriters of his generation, he’ll be performing songs from throughout his four-decade career at the Universal Hall in Findhorn, including familiar radio hits and fan favourites drawn from his eight studio albums.
Friedman’s insightful true-to-life ‘story songs’ bring pathos and humour to such subjects as family, friends, neighbours, work and the seemingly trivial, yet ultimately essential stuff of everyday life.
His past hits include Ariel, Lucky Stars, Lydia and McDonald’s Girl.
In addition he composes and produces soundtracks for TV and film, including the music to the hit TV series Boon, NBC’s Eerie Indiana, Nickelodeon’s Nick Arcade and the indie horror classic ‘I Bought a Vampire Motorcycle’.
He’s also published a respected book on his craft titled ‘The Songwriter’s Handbook’, based on workshops and masterclasses he’s conducted at universities and music conservatories around the world, including the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts.
Peter Vallance, of Universal Hall Promotions, said: "You’ll thank your lucky stars you got yourself a ticket to come along and see Dean at Universal Hall."
The concert is taking place at the venue in Findhorn eco-village on Thursday, August 8, from 7.30pm.
Tickets (£27.50) are available from wegottickets.com or can be purchased from the box office on the night.
