The Crofting Commission is reminding crofters that they must return their crofting census by Thursday this week.

The census must be completed each year and this year crofters received a latter with a link to an online form.

Malcolm Mathieson, convener of the Crofting Commission said: “I’m urging all crofters who haven’t yet done so to complete their census form before the deadline on March 31.

“I cannot stress enough as to how important the information is that crofters provide – it gives us clear evidence as a commission to push for change. Without it, policy, practice and procedures will not accurately reflect the reality of crofting or empower us as a commission to represent the sector.

“Commission staff will be on hand to support crofters who need a little help with completing the form, but for the vast majority of crofters the form will take just a few minutes to complete.”
