AN Easter Ross artist who put NHS heroes in the frame during the coronavirus crisis is now turning her attention to warming the hearts of art lovers in winter.

The Studio Smith winter show has become something of a tradition in Tain in the run-up to the festive season.

Mother and daughter talents Inge and Ingebjorg Smith are behind the event which runs until Christmas Eve at their St Duthus Place studio.

It offers a showcase for creatives and an Aladdin's cave of unique gift options for shoppers keen to find something different while also supporting the local artistic community.

In May last year, Ingebjorg put a stash of unused mini-canvasses unearthed during a lockdown clear-out to good use by creating custom-made paintings to help raise funds for NHS charities. She was inspired to do so by the fundraising exploits of the late Captain Tom Moore who raised millions by walking round his garden using a frame as he approached his 100th birthday.

The Over the Rainbow series featuring her trademark animal creations kept her occupied during lockdown.

The winter show now under way follows a big redecoration in the gallery. Ingebjorg said: "I have made much better use of the space, so there are even more beautiful arts and crafts for people to choose from, locally made – so low gift miles! Lots of things are not available anywhere else so its great chance to pick up things that are unique."
