Scottish Fire and Rescue Service appliance from Dornoch called to scene after crash on A9 closes road in both directions on Tain bypass

THE A9 was blocked after a crash involving two vehicles on the Tain bypass this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 3.30pm to reports of a crash involving two cars at the Knockbreck junction near Asda.

Traffic Scotland issued a warning to motorists at 4.10pm to advise that the road was blocked in both directions, adding: “Approach with care, traffic is very slow in the area”.

Police confirmed that traffic has built up on the busy trunk road in the aftermath of the crash. There was no immediate word on whether anyone was injured, or the types of car involved.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service scrambled two fire engines to the scene, one from Dornoch and another from Invergordon.
