Ten new coronavirus cases have been recorded in the NHS Highland area for the second day in succession.

The latest figures released on Sunday showed that the region has amassed 4641 cases of Covid-19 since the pandemic began.

Neighbouring NHS Grampian recorded 22 new cases, while there was no increase in the Western Isles, Orkney or Shetland.

Across Scotland, there were 572 new positive tests reported, which accounted for 3.8 per cent of all tests in the last 24 hours.

Two further deaths of people who have recently tested positive were also recorded.

Yesterday, there were 837 people in hospital across Scotland (19 in NHS Highland hospitals), with 78 in intensive care (six within NHS Highland).

The latest data also shows that 1,593,695 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination so far, and 76,512 have received their second dose.
