Councillors back Gordonbush wind farm extension
NORTH councillors have decided not to raise an objection to SSE’s application to extend Gordonbush wind farm.
Members of the north planning committee held a site meeting on Monday and discussed the proposal at their regular meeting yesterday.
Plans are to extend the site by adding an extra 15 turbines to the 35 currently operating.
Although a number of concerns were discussed, including the visual impact from Rogart, it was decided unanimously to back the application.
The council received one letter of support for the extension and 12 objections, including a petition from Loth Residents Association. There were also objections from the John Muir Trust and Scottish Wildlife Trust.
SSE welcomed the decision saying that Gordonbush wind farm had delivered about £20million into the Highland economy, by the use of goods and services from local businesses.
The final decision on the application will be taken by Scottish ministers.
