Consultation events planned for proposed ‘commercial scale wind farm’ north of Evanton
Plans for up to 20 wind turbines to be erected at a site just north of Evanton will be on display at two public consultation events later this month.
Renewable energy company RWE has identified a site for the “commercial scale wind farm” at Ceislein, situated 20 km north-east of Dingwall, to the north of Evanton and Fyrish.

The firm say the new development will boast a generating capacity of up to 132MW.
Members of the public have been invited to two public consultation events, in Alness and Invergordon, where they be invited to view plans and offer comment.
Members of RWE’s project team will also be on hand to answer questions.
The first consultation is to be held in the auditorium room of the Capstone Centre on Obsdale Road in Alness, on Tuesday August 20 from 2pm to 7pm.
A second event will be held the following day at Ross Sutherland Rugby Club, Castle Avenue in Invergordon on Wednesday, August 21, also between 2pm and 7pm.
A statement from RWE reads: “Early assessment of the site has suggested that it could accommodate a commercial scale wind farm and as such would likely see the proposal have an installed capacity of over 50 MW.
“Therefore, it is our intention to submit a request for a Scoping Opinion to the Scottish Government’s Energy Consents Unit (ECU).
“The Scoping Request seeks consultee feedback on the development proposals, the environmental aspects that will be addressed in the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and the methodologies proposed to undertake these assessments.
“Importantly, the Highland Council and other consultees, including the Community Council, will have the opportunity to provide early comment and feedback.
“RWE is committed to supporting the communities that neighbour our wind farms. In 2022 alone community funds from wind farms operated by RWE in Scotland invested around £780,000 into local projects.
“We are currently seeking input and ideas for the future Ceislein community benefit fund.
“If you have any comments, questions or suggestions for the fund, please contact our community investment team.”
In addition to in-person events, an online virtual consultation room will also be made available, displaying the same information shown at the events.
These will be made available for viewing from August 20 to September 23 at rwe.com/ceislein.
