They will be shown a new upper floor which tells the Clynelish story in an interactive way, as well as a new whisky terrace bar and tasting area offering beautiful view of the Sutherland coast.

The redevelopment is part of parent company Diageo's wider £185 million investment into a transformation of its Scotch whisky tourism experience.

A spokesman for Diageo said: "The company is proud not only to bring a new modern whisky attraction to the Brora area, but also to create a hub for the local community to enjoy."

Clynelish will initially open to locals only, in accordance with the Scottish Government’s guidelines.

Clynelish Distillery shares its location with the iconic Brora Distillery, which closed in 1983. Work is ongoing to bring Brora back into production as part of a separate £35m investment programme.
