Beaches in East Sutherland featured in a presentation Shooting Seascapes given to East Sutherland Camera club at its October meeting.

Mark Janes of Dngwall Camera Club showed a variety of his stunning images of seascapes taken from different coastal locations in the north.

Club spokesman Andy Kirby said: “Members were hugely appreciative of the technical explanations and advice Mark delivered, especially regarding the use of long shutter times to create special effects with the moving water in his shots.”

The evening saw the first of the season’s competitions - Fauna.

Jennifer Holdsworth, Tain, came first in the colour section with her delightful image Nice and Cosy of a resting swan. And she came top again in the creative class with her humorous compilation Thinking of Lunch.

Alan Butcher, Golspie, gained a well deserved first in the monochrome section with Look into My Lens.

The evening was rounded off with presentations of members’ work arising from the club’s two summer tasks, which were to compare old photographs of the area with their modern equivalent from the same viewpoint and several shots of the same view in different weather conditions.

Details of the club’s programme can be found at eastsutherlandcc.org.uk. New members always welcome.
