Golspie’s popular charity shop 2nd Best is on the move after over 18 years in the same premises.

The shop, which raises thousands of pounds every year for Alzheimer Scotland, closes temporarily today in preparation for the move.

It is re-locating from its present home opposite Fountain Road car park, further south on Main Street to premises formerly occupied by West End Stores.

Manager Barbara Gray said she and staff were very optimistic about the shift.

“The shop was opened in 2001 so this is the end of a long era,” she said. “But it is also the start of a new and exciting chapter for us.

“We are all looking forward to the move to our new home which has a brighter and more modern look.

“We will still have a fantastic range of clothing and other items, all sold at great prices and in aid of a very important charity – Alzheimer Scotland."

Ms Gray and her team of volunteers will take a few weeks to move everything and set up again.

They expect to have a grand opening at some point around mid-November.

More volunteers are also sought.
