Carers step out to raise funds for a minibus for a Sutherland care home

Three carers are undertaking a nine-mile sponsored walk tomorrow, Friday, June 27, to raise money for the Sutherland residential home for the elderly where they work.

Kelly Morrison, Shelley Roveti and Aggie Knivziew are walking from Lidl’s supermarket in Tain to Dornoch to raise money for Oversteps Care Home.

Aggie’s 10-year-old daughter, Anastasia, will also join them, and they hope to start the walk at 10am. They will initially follow the A9 before taking the Cuthill turn-off.

Oversteps, which is run by CrossReach, a charitable social care organisation affiliated with the Church of Scotland, has launched a year-long fundraising drive in a bid to purchase a minibus.

The target is £40,000, and Oversteps manager Jen Macdonald said that around £11,000 had already been raised.

Kelly, who walks daily with her dog, has already raised around £220 after completing a sponsored walk to the top of Ben Wyvis earlier this year.
