CalMac announces Ullapool to Stornoway ferry cancellations

CalMac has announced that multiple ferries between Ullapool and Stornoway are cancelled, or at risk of cancellation, due to adverse weather seen across the Highlands.

The ferry operator stated that “due to a forecast of strong northerly winds and associated sea and swell” all services today (January 6) are liable to disruption or cancellation at short notice — or they have already been cancelled.

The cancelled sailings are:

• 10.30am from Ullapool to Stornoway

• 2pm from Stornoway to Ullapool

CalMac also advised that no livestock or horses will be carried on freight services on January 6, due to the adverse weather.

The disruption comes amidst a yellow weather warning from the Met Office for snow and ice, covering most of the Highlands and some of the Western Isles, in place until 11am today. The Met Office advised that there will be “further snow in places, along with icy stretches developing, brings the potential for some disruption, especially to travel.”
