Call for blood donors as extra session laid on in Highland capital

In a drive to find blood donors, an extra day been added to the blood bank at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness to help maintain blood stocks.

It is hoped that 62 people will come forward for a donation sessions next Tuesday, September 1.

Appointments are available between 11am until 12.50pm, and 2pm until 4pm.

This session is in addition to its normal weekly sessions held on a Monday and Thursday.

A spokeswoman for The Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service said: "We normally run our sessions weekly on a Monday and Thursday so this session has been added on to programme to help us maintain blood stocks.

"We would like to find the 62 donors that we need to attend on the day.

"Anyone who is able to attend should just call us or go online to book their appointment."
