Buyers flock to north mart's weaned calves sale with quality high and trade strong

DINGWALL and Highland Marts Ltd yesterday sold 1355 weaned calves.
Bullocks (815) averaged 252.2p (221.9p last year) and sold to 336.1p per kg for a 244kg Limousin cross from Kintradwell Estate, Brora and £1190 gross for a 585kg Simmental cross from Balgunloune, North Kessock.
Heifers (538) averaged 243.5p (208.9p last year) and sold to 304.0p per kg for a pen of 250kg Charolais crosses from 9 Lochussie, Dingwall and £1210 gross for a pair of 435kg Limousin crosses from Muirton Mains, Urray.
Young Bulls (2) averaged 250.9p (184.6p last year) and sold to 253.7p per kg for a 205kg Limousin cross from Achentoul Farms, Kinbrace and £860 gross for a 345kg Charolais cross from Milton Farm, Aberarder.
It was described as “a fantastic show of calves realising a very strong trade”.
