Burst water pipe near Ullapool causes supply issues





A BURST water pipe in Wester Ross today (January 7) has created supply issues for local residents.

Scottish Water has confirmed that it is currently carrying out repairs to the burst pipe in Letters (IV23), near Ullapool.

The estimated time for completing the repair is 2pm.

At 9.50am, Scottish Water said: “We expect to complete the repair in a timeframe which means we do not plan to provide bottled water.

“The water supply will gradually return to normal for customers once the repair has been completed.

The burst water pipe comes come amidst an extended Met Office yellow weather warning for snow and ice, covering the Highlands and Western Isles. The warning has been extended until 12pm on Wednesday (January 8).

The warning states that the affected area will see “further rain, sleet and snow showers leading to some travel disruption”.

Areas above 200 metres could see another 10cm of snow.

Snow showers will be widespread “for the rest of Tuesday”, the update added, before becoming confined to the north and north east on Wednesday.
