Brora Primary School still managed to have some festive fun despite operating under coronavirus restrictions.

Primaries two to three staged a nativity which – because of the capacious school hall – other classes were able to watch in distanced ‘bubbles’. The event was videoed to enable parents to see it online.

One mum said it was the first time in 17 years she had not been able to attend the school’s nativity in person.

Head teacher Dawn McKenzie said: “Parties were also held, but only one class at a time. Everyone still had lots of fun. Christmas dinner was a highlight, as it always is, and many children and staff cheered the school up with their Christmas jumpers.”

Children from nursery-p3 were each given a selection box from the Hub and every child received a present from Brora Carnival Week in lieu of a party this year. Lorna Campbell of Capaldi’s of Brora donated ice cream.

Mrs McKenzie said: “The school and nursery are very lucky to be so well supported by their village.”
