British Transport Police confirm person pronounced dead following reports of a casualty on the rail track near Inverness

A person was yesterday pronounced dead on the rail line near Inverness.

Emergency services including police and paramedics were in attendance at the scene at Delmore, near Clachnaharry, west of the city.

A Network Rail response unit was also at the scene.

British Transport Police confirmed officers were called to the line near Inverness at 1pm yesterday following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

A spokeswoman said: "Paramedics also attended, and sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Officers are currently working to identify the deceased and establish the full circumstances behind their death."
