Cairngorm Mountain has landed a real coup after it was announced the resort will host The BRITS 2023.

The national championships will take place from April 1-2 and will be the first time they have been hosted in Scotland for more than three decades.

The organisers state: "The BRITS is back! And not only that – like a spawning salmon, we’re coming back to our birthplace.

"Yes, you read that right, The BRITS - the UK’s official Snowboard and Freeski Championships - is BACK IN SCOTLAND!"

"Where? Cairngorm Mountain – an early home to The BRITS (after a mere 32 years have passed)."

Susan Smith, chief executive of Cairngorm Mountain (Scotland) Ltd said: "We are absolutely delighted to be hosting The Brits event this year right here on the slopes at Cairngorm Mountain.

"The newly refurbished Ptarmigan, the highest restaurant in the UK will play a big part in the celebrations.

"Attendees will not only enjoy panoramic views from the slopes but also from the viewing terrace and mountain railway.

"It’s fantastic to be welcoming the event not only back to Scotland but returning to the Cairngorms for the first time in over 30 years."

The event will see some of the biggest names in the sport not only in Great Britain but in the world compete at Cairngorm.

The BRITS have been held in the Alps for the past 30 years, most recently taking up residence in the Swiss resort of Laax.

The British Snowboard and Freeski Championships – aka 'The BRITS' has been the premier snowboard contest since 1990, pitting professional athletes against professional athletes, whilst retaining an open-door policy for anyone wishing to give-it-a-go.
