A SUMMER exhibition is being held at a small north-west Sutherland studio gallery.

The Dorothy Dick Studio Gallery in Scourie is now open until the end of September.

The gallery is currently operated by Joan Hughson, who owns Hughson Gallery in Glasgow and who represents sculptor Dorothy Dick.

Work on display across the five rooms includes sculptures by Dorothy Dick in wood, bronze and ciment fondu.

Ms Hughson said: "This year many more of her preparatory drawings will be on display, sure to please those visitors who like figurative work.

"Studios in ink and watercolours of Sutherland rocks and landscape are also included."

On display from Ms Dick's own collection will be works by Dame Elizabeth Blackadder, James Morrison, Philip Reeves and Margot Sandeman.

Also featured are two guest artistes Edna Whyte and Andrew Bunn.

Ms Whyte's delicate and elegant drawings of M'hoine House, situated between Durness and Tongue, were very well received last year.

Tree surgeon Andrew Bunn is exhibiting his beautiful carved bowls. Mr Bunn carves in a range of wood and is able to clearly see the potential in a solid block of wood.

The studo gallery is located at 45 and 47 Scourie. Opening hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 2pm-6pm or by arrangement – phone 01971 502013.
