AN Easter Ross-based charity with a global reach has issued an appeal to its big-hearted supporters to hold on to any shoe boxes they might have received over Christmas.

Blythswood, which has a base at Deephaven near Evanton, made its plea ahead of its next Shoe Box Appeal, which sees small gifts distributed to vulnerable communities in Eastern Europe.

It posted: "We hope you all have had a safe and peaceful Christmas. Just a quick request. If you have received shoes for Christmas in a shoe box, please don’t throw the box out, consider holding on to it for the Shoe Box Appeal 2022 (nothing like a bit of forward planning!) Boxes can be dropped into head office at Evanton after January 5 or any of our shops. We are sometimes short of boxes so this would help enormously."

Despite all the challenges of the coronavirus crisis, the 2020 appeal witnessed an "amazing response" with 75,218 shoe boxes and bags donated and sent off to Eastern Europe.

Blythswood is a Christian charity, with a mission to transform lives through the impact of education, community action and gospel activities.
