Bettyhill Village Hall appeals for volunteers to help with VE Day event





A NORTH Sutherland village hall committee is planning a free event for all to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day (VE Day).

Bettyhill Hall management committee is inviting people to enjoy a traditional games session and refreshments at the hall on Saturday, May 3, from 11am to 3pm. The event is in the run-up to VE Day on Thursday, May 8.

The hall committee is now appealing for volunteers to come forward to help decorate the hall for VE Day, or to help on the day, or to donate some baking, and they are also interested in hearing from people who have family memories of World War II.

VE Day marks the formal acceptance by the World War II Allies of Germany’s unconditional surrender of its armed forces on Tuesday, May 8, 1945. Events will take place nationwide to mark the 80th anniversary.
