The Thunder is back in the Glen!

Harley-Davidson owners and friends have been pouring into the strath since yesterday and it looks like this year’s rally is going to be a bumper one.

Despite the inclement forecast for the start - with the Met Office warning of flood conditions in some areas of the Highlands - the conditions have actually proved very conducive to good motoring and great socialising as friendly bikers arrive from all over the world.

Already some 2,000 tickets for the event have been secured, says co-ordinator Shirley Gunn, with plenty more room available for local people who simply want to join in the fun.

“Everybody’s excited about the prospects for 2024 and if we do get some decent weather it could be a really fantastic event all round, with lots of wee tweaks made in the programme - we have open air concerts with a fabulous range of bands - including a superb Queen tribute band - but it won’t all be just rock and pop and country, we will be featuring the strath’s own Feis Spe musicians, both junior and senior on the Sunday in their own afternoon show.

“There will be charity rides and raffles - in aid of Blood Bikes and the local community transport company - and a huge range of local stands featuring as many as 54 traders, there will be comedy acts - Rude and Gooand there will be films in the Macdonald Resort’s beautiful auditorium, where both Wild Hogs and Easy Rider will be featured.

“And of course on Saturday we’ll be having our spectacular Ride Out to Grantown - although even there we’ll be changing the route slightly.”
