Badcall based salmon producer Loch Duart targets Seafood Expo Asia





SUTHERLAND salmon producer Loch Duart aims to get a new audience hooked on its product halfway across the world.

Loch Duart is set to bring its brand to Seafood Expo Asia taking place in Singapore this week.

The event which opens on Wednesday and runs from September 4-6 is an opportunity for the firm to show visitors, buyers and food enthusiasts how Loch Duart’s product differs from standard farmed salmon and how they can purchase the fish.

Chris Orr, sales director of Loch Duart, who will be at the Loch Duart stand, said: “We’re so proud to be bringing what we believe is the world’s best farmed salmon to Seafood Expo Asia.

“We know many chefs and restaurants across Asia that are already familiar with Loch Duart Salmon’s unrivalled taste and texture, so it’s fantastic to be able to show even more people why we’re so proud of how we raise our fish.”

He said that while the firm prides itself on rearing salmon “slowly with care and with the lowest impact on the environment as possible”, it is also keen to reach more people.

He said: “We are excited to be growing our capacity to reach even more customers across the world.

“Our message to everyone attending Seafood Expo Asia is to visit Hall F, Stand A10 to find out why Loch Duart Salmon is loved by customers around the world. We look forward to meeting new, as well as existing customers.”

The company prides itself on being one of the last remaining independent, non-multinational Scottish fish farming companies and produces 6000 tonnes of “the world’s best-tasting salmon” each year from its farms in Sutherland, the Outer Hebrides, and Skye. It employs 160 people in the Western Isles, Sutherland and Ross and Cromarty.

It has a processing plant in Dingwall and is supplied to a number of leading hotels, Michelin-starred restaurants and retailers across the world.Loch Duart has featured on the menus at the 10 Downing Street Coronation lunch, the Commonwealth Games and Wimbledon and Glasgow COP26.
