Awards for All funding for two East Sutherland groups
Two East Sutherland groups are among 15 across Scotland who are sharing in the Big Lottery’s Awards for All funding worth over £820,000.
The scheme makes awards of between £500 and £10,000 to grass-roots community groups and voluntary organisations.
Dornoch and District Community Association have been awarded £10,000.
The association will use the funding to renovate the upper floor of the Dornoch Social Club, which they run in the village. The grant will fund electrical work, heaters, lights, windows, doors, plastering, insulation, painting and a new floor covering.
Friends of Brora Community Learning Centre have also been granted £10,000 to provide training to a group of centre users, allowing them to establish a social enterprise in designing, producing and selling craft items.
The grant will pay for Social Enterprise Academy attendance fees, tutor costs, two sewing machines, art materials, venue hire, two visits to rural social enterprise projects, storage equipment and display equipment.
