"We were first alerted to the incident by the amazing staff at Ridgway Adventure, Ardmore, Highlands of Scotland who provided some excellent first aid whilst waiting for help to arrive," said a spokesperson for the team.
"Given the location and the nature of the injury we requested support from HM Coastguard and were duly assisted by the helicopter and crew of Rescue 948 from Stornoway.
"Fortunately, the helicopter was able to land close by in a local resident’s field, but this still presented a challenge in moving the casualty from the steep section of path where they had fallen.
“Rather than waiting for our stretcher to arrive that was on its way up the road from our base in Inchnadamph, we were kindly assisted by a local resident who provided the use of a tarpaulin and a quad bike with trailer.
“This worked well and was the second bit of excellent improvisation by the team in just three days."
The woman was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. Her condition is unknown.
