Police witness appeal after teenager airlifted to hospital following A87 road accident involving blue Hyundai car and white Fiat Ducato motor-home
POLICE have appealed for witnesses to an accident which resulted in a teenager being airlifted to hospital after a collision between a car and a motor-home.
It happened on the A87 Glen Shiel road on Saturday afternoon at around 4.30pm.
The collison involved a blue Hyundai and a white Fiat Ducato motor-home and happened about 20 miles east of Kyle of Lochalsh.
Police said: "Around 4.30pm, a blue Hyundai was travelling on the A87 from Balmacara when it appeared to lose control and crossed into the westbound carriageway, colliding with a white Fiat Ducato motor-home.
"Emergency services were contacted and a 16-year-old male passenger from within the Hyundai was airlifted to hospital in Inverness.
"The 26-year-old male driver of the car was not injured in the incident.
"The 27-year-old female driver of the motor-home was also taken to hospital as a precaution."
The road was closed for several hours as collision investigators conducted enquiries at the scene.
Sergeant Angus MacLeod said: “Our enquiries are under way to establish exactly what has happened. I am appealing to other motorists who were in the area at the time to contact us with any information. In particular, I would ask drivers with dash-cam devices to check their footage as they may have images which could assist our investigation.”
