Flights between Inverness and London are likely to be unaffected after the English capital was moved into Tier 3 by the UK Government from yesterday.

The move places residents in the south east of England under the strictest Covid-19 restrictions with limited travel except for essential reasons.

Passengers are advised to check government guidelines before travelling.

During the recent English lockdown certain airlines suspended flights between Inverness and London – the suspensions were reinstated when the lockdown ended.

Following the announcement of London's Tier 3 restrictions, an easyJet spokeswoman said: “We plan to operate our flying programme as scheduled."

She said that if passengers were affected by local restrictions they had the flexibility to ensure that, if their plans changed, then they could also alter their flight arrangements and added: "Any customers whose travel plans to or from London are impacted by the change in restrictions this week can contact our customer service team to transfer their flights to a later date with no change fee.”

A British Airways spokesman said: “Customers can keep up to date on the status of their flight in the manage my booking section of our website. If they no longer wish to travel, they can apply for a future travel voucher.”
