SEVEN fresh positive tests for Covid-19 have been reported across the NHS Highland area in the past 24 hours.

The region's cumulative number of cases since the start of the pandemic increased from 1339 to 1346 when the latest daily update was published on Monday.

Across Scotland there were 949 newly-reported Covid-19 infections.

Some 1208 people were receiving treatment in Scottish hospitals for the coronavirus – up 38 from the previous day.

Of those, 84 were being treated in intensive care. This was down from 95 on Sunday.

And no newly-reported deaths were registered since the previous update, although it was stressed that register offices are generally closed at weekends.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the north of Scotland, there were no new cases in NHS Eileanan Siar, NHS Shetland or NHS Orkney.

But NHS Grampian saw its overall total increased by 43 to 4306.

And NHS Tayside added 54 infections, for a cumulative total of 5507.

There have now been 89,310 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Scotland since the pandemic first began.
