12 crew members from vessel docked in Easter Ross now confirmed with Covid-19 and quarantined onshore
TWELVE crew members from a vessel docked in Easter Ross have now been confirmed with the Covid-19 virus.
The offshore supply ship Normand Subsea returned to the Port of Nigg on Tuesday, April 27 and is on contract working in the west of Shetland.
Oil and gas industry company Subsea 7 has been in dialogue with NHS Highland which is aware of the situation.
It said: "Subsea 7 can confirm that 12 crew members from the Normand Subsea vessel have been medically confirmed with the Covid-19 virus.
Affected personnel and non-essential crew members have been transferred onshore into quarantined accommodation and are being monitored by medical staff.
"None of the individuals are presenting serious health conditions."
As a further safety measure, the vessel will undergo a deep clean while docked in the Port of Nigg.
The spokesman added: "We are in dialogue with NHS Highland's Health Protection Team and working in line with our approved procedures to manage the situation.
"Subsea 7 remains vigilant with our prime concern being the health and welfare of all personnel. We are monitoring the situation very closely and taking precautionary measures to reduce the risk of exposure, in line with guidance from national and local health authorities."
The vessel, which flies under a Norwegian flag, was designed for inspection, repair and maintenance work and can accommodate 90 people.
