TWO Sutherland hotels are toasting their success in the 2018 Scottish Hotel Awards.
The Tongue Hotel was named Small Country Hotel of the Year in the national scheme while the Kylesku Hotel scooped the top prize in the informal dining category.
Tongue hotel owners David and Lorraine Hook, who took over the historic shooting lodge 10 years ago, were present at the glittering award ceremony on Sunday in the Sheraton Grant Hotel and Spa, Edinburgh.
The couple have fully renovated the 19-bedroom hotel, which dates back to 1854 and is located on the shores of the Kyle of Tongue with stunning views of Ben Loyal, Ben Hope and the ruins of Castle Varrich.
Mrs Hook said the award was a "shot in the arm" at the start of a new visitor season.
Representing the Kylesku Hotel at the ceremony were one of its managers, Stuart Beveridge, and bar man Robin O’Kane.
The hotel, the recipient of a large number of awards in the past few years, has gained a reputation for the quality and creativity of its food, which is sourced locally.
