A PUBLIC meeting to "explore legal options" following the announcement last week by Scottish and Southern Energy that they are to take construction traffic for their Gordonbush Wind Farm via the A9 through Golspie and Brora, is being held tonight (Friday). It will be held in the Fountain Road Church Hall at 7.30pm and will be chaired by Sheila Dow, of Loth. One of the organisers, Allan Tubb of Golspie, says: "We need to act quickly if we want to get some practical form of resistance to this move underway. We want to exlore the legal options open to the community in terms of the planning consent granted to SSE." Peter Daniels of Loth, says: "If SSE is allowed to take heavy construction and windfarm traffic through this route, the infrastructure on the A9 and the houses which line it will be exposed to serious damage. "A precedent will be created. In spite of the expensive public inquiry in Helmsdale, we are seeing windfarm applications emerging at Crakaig and Navidale. The Gordonbush windfarm development could potentially open the way for a wndfarm bonanza for developers." Members of Golspie and Brora Community Councils are to meet with SSE representatives, in private, next week. |
