DURNESS hosts the return of Donald Black and his band to the North Coast on September 13 as part of this year's Blas Festival, along with the Addie Harper Band and the Fèis Chataibh Cèilidh Trail. Donald is a true master of the mouth organ, with a very distinctive piping style to his playing. He has entertained audiences the world over with his stunning slow air arrangements. Joining Donald and his band in Durness Village Hall will be the Addie Harper Junior band, a real favourite of audiences in the North and in high demand for dances and accordion and fiddle clubs across the country. Completing the programme will be a selection of songs and tunes from the Fèis Chataibh 2008 Cèilidh Trail crew. The North West Sutherland Food Link will be running a "tattie tea" cafe before the event from 6pm to 7.30pm, and during the interval. This will give people an opportunity to enjoy a range of potato-based dishes from a variety of locally produced potatoes, together with a selection of tasty soups and salads, tea, coffee and home baking. There will be tattie displays and information about the humble spud too. Related articles: |
