FOLLOWING on from the success of the first open meeting of East Sutherland Athletics Club on May 1, when 79 young people took part in a friendly athletics meeting, the second event of the summer is happening at Dornoch Primary School playing fields next Tuesday, 22nd May.

The event is open to young people between the ages of 7 – 17 who will be competing in the 200m, 1500m, discus and long jump. In addition, and in anticipation of the forthcoming Junior Highland Games, children may practice their techniques in the various events such as the hammer, caber and tug of war.

"Information about this event has already gone out to schools and we are expecting a good response," said Louise Nadin, Active Schools Co-ordinator. "Junior track and senior field events will take place between 4-5pm, while the senior track and junior field events will take place between 5-6p.m."

The East Sutherland Athletics Club is just keen to organise a friendly event for anyone who wants to take part so for further details contact Louise on 01408 635214.
