Brora Rangers 2
Fraserburgh 2
BRORA Rangers picked up an unexpected point against title contenders Fraserburgh in a four-goal thriller at windswept Dudgeon Park last Saturday.
The home side twice came from behind to snatch a point in an entertaining match, despite the atrocious conditions.
The Brora goal survived a let off in the sixth minute when Allan Hale intercepted a pass back but Gordon Finlayson got back in time to clear his shot off the goal-line.
Brora's first attempt on goal arrived in the 15th minute but Steven Ross's free kick was easily held by Broch goalkeeper Paul Leask.
At the other end Sean McCarthy did well to keep out a powerful effort from Hale, but Brora also came close when Gary Kerr forced a fine save from Leask.
Kerr had another chance just before the break but he headed wide of target after getting on the end of a pin-point cross from Liam Baxter.
With the strong wind at their backs in the second half, Fraserburgh took the lead in the 47th minute when Mark Cowie swept home a Willie West delivery.
But Brora were back on level terms six minutes later when Baxter scored direct from a free kick.
Play raged from end to end and Fraserburgh restored their lead just before the hour mark when Scott Barbour got on the end of a corner kick to score from close range.
Brora refused to throw in the towel and they were back on level terms again 16 minutes from the end when Steven Ross scored with a bullet header after Baxter and Finlayson combined to set him up.
Both sides had chances to win the match before the end. Brora substitute Craig Ross fired over the crossbar with only Leask to beat then Ryan Lamont blocked a goalbound shot from West at the death.
