I fully support the recycling movement and the GREAN system worked so very well – why change it?
It is amazing that when a system is working so well, the council either want a slice of it or think they can do better. As far as I am aware there was no consultation with the end user – ie householders, and certainly not with my household. Apart from that, the blue bins are an absolute eyesore. I see them dotted around our lovely Dornoch. I assume that they are there to attract attention, but they detract from the street scene very significantly.
Also, we have nowhere to hide the blue bin in our garden and I am sure that we will not be alone in this.
Whoever made this decision was not only very misguided but spending £90K of our council tax on the blue bins was outrageously wasteful. When is Highland Council going to take on board that it is we, the council tax payers, who are their employers and they, the council, are not our masters!
