Police appeal for information after cat found in illegal trap

A POLICE investigation is underway after a cat was found caught in an illegal trap set near an Easter Ross village.

The feline was discovered ensnared in a gin trap in the Heights of Achternned area, near Strathpeffer, It was not seriously injured and is expected to make a full recovery.

The incident was reported to police on Wednesday, February 10 and an appeal has now gone out for information.

Police Constable Daniel Sutherland, the divisional wildlife crime liaison officer, said gin traps were illegal because of their design.

He said: "These type of trap are indiscriminate and cause great suffering to any animal caught,
