North of Scotland film fans will come face to face with swashbuckling pirates, talking pandas and the life and times of a Formula One racing icon when Screen Machine, Scotland’s only mobile cinema, stops off in Highland communities this week.

Returning to Lochinver, Kinlochbervie and Durness, and with a new addition of Bettyhill, the 80 seat digital cinema will be screening Johnny Depp's latest blockbuster, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, animated comedy Kung Fu Panda 2, and the documentary praised by film critic Mark Kermode as a must see film of 2011, Senna.

The screening dates are: Lochinver – Monday 11 and Tuesday 12 July;

Kinlochbervie – Wednesday 13 July; Durness – Thursday 14 July;

Bettyhill – Friday 15 and Saturday 16 July.

Ron Inglis, Director of Regional Screen Scotand, the not-for-profit organisation behind Screen Machine, said of the tour: “We're delighted to be back in the North of Scotland, where we always receive a very warm welcome from film fans. As it can be tricky for residents to see the latest titles on the big screen due to the remote places they live in, we try to bring the best of the new releases to them.

“We're also pleased to be adding Bettyhill to our schedule following public demand. If it's a success then we hope to be back again soon.”

The Screen Machine is currently on tour around the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. You can get more information on its upcoming destinations and book tickets at www.screenmachine.co.uk.
