Robbie the Pict auctions Runrig gold disc

Robbie the Pict has decided to part with his only Gold Disc to help raise the necessary costs of launching a new festival on the Isle of Skye on July 22/23 in Kyleakin.

Awarded to him by Runrig’s then manager Marlene Ross for his contribution to the success of “The Big Wheel” in 1991, Robbie feels it could now play a practical and useful role supporting a musical event 20 years later.

Announcing a £500 reserve he invites bids which he hopes will make a dent in the £8000 production costs to bring legendary guitarist Wilko Johnson (formerly of Dr Feelgood and Ian Dury and the Blockheads), and four support bands, to Skye for a week-end of rock and blues guitar music.

“Big Wheel was 20 years ago.  Rock music cannot stand still, it is not about stuff on walls; it is about getting together and dancing because you feel good, letting you feet know how you feel!” said Robbie.

Bids are invited before a cut-off point at midnight on the full moon, Friday, 15 July, in writing, to Gold Disc, Fordside House, Broadford, Isle of Skye IV49 9AB.

“Let’s get some life back into Kyle and Kyleakin.  They have suffered enough from political experiments.” he added.
