Police in Sutherland, Caithness and Easter Ross have received reports from members of the public who have been sent scam letters trying to defraud them.
This particular scam involves alleged large sums of monies in Japan which are due to next of kin.
These letters are fraudulent.
Police wish to remind members of the public to be vigilant and not to respond to such letters, never to hand over personal bank details or enter into any correspondence with such fraudulent schemes.
