Community Council - at the recent Durness Community Council meeting Colin Coventry, tour guide for Smoo Cave, reported his finds of ancient bones. It was agreed that this was a potentially interesting find which merited further research and so the community council will apply to the Ward Discretionary Fund to pay for an archaeologist to spend three days investigating in Smoo Cave and to pay for one item to be carbon dated.
If this produces evidence of genuine scientific interest then the community council will consider looking into a larger project.
The liaison meeting with the Ministry of Defence is to take place on Monday, 30 April, at the Village Hall.
