It takes most of us a little while to get going on Monday mornings, particularly in the middle of February.

But Kyle Sinclair, of 209 East Doll, Brora, was on the go at dawn, making his entrance into the world, and not knowing he is the first home-birth baby in Sutherland this year.

Mum Nikki woke at 6am at home, little realising that this Monday morning was going to be a bit different – by 7.55am she had delivered Kyle! With a little help from midwife Brenda Irving; Dr Docherty and ambulance technicians Gordon Raspin and John Smith, 5lbs 6oz Kyle was born.
