Councillor for North West and Central Sutherland, George Farlow, has been appointed chairman of two Highland organisations.
Councillor Farlow, who is vice-chairman of the Council’s Planning Environment and Development Committee, will serve as Chairman of the Highland Environment Forum.
He will also chair the new Highland Fisheries Local Action Group (FLAG), which will deliver the Highland element of the Axis 4 European Fisheries Fund on behalf of the European Commission and the Scottish Government.
The Highland FLAG must be representative of the fishing communities and will involve at least 30per cent representatives from the fishing sector.
The total EFF Axis 4 budget of £549,392 in Highland includes the necessary 25 per cent match funding commitment of £137,348 from the Council.
