Judging in the great Sutherland flag competition took place at Drummuie on Monday with entries received from as far afield as New Zealand Japan and Sweden.

Many featured the country's wildlife.

The contest is being organised by the area's Lord Lieutenancy team and the next step will be to finesse the art work.

The final design might well be a combination of more than one entry.

Flags will then be commissioned and a formal unveiling and presentation ceremony held in the new year.

Pictured are, back row from left: Councillor Jim McGillivray, vice Lord Lieutenant Colin Gilmour, Lord Lieutenant Dr Monica Main, vexillologist Philip Tibbetts, Kieran Day, Kinlochbervie High School, Deputy Lieutenant Frances Gunn.
