A SHERIFF found himself with a familiar face before him in the dock at Inverness Sheriff Court today.

Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood recognised Richard Munro as a former client from the days when he was a defence solicitor, when Munro entered the dock.

He told Munro: “I’m not comfortable about dealing with this case. We go back a long way. I know too much about you. I think another Sheriff should deal with this.”

Fifty four year old Munro of Mackintosh Road, Inverness, then looked at the Sheriff and replied: “Gordy, I never recognised you.”

He pleaded guilty to charges of manufacturing cannabis at his home in Mackintosh Road and stealing electricity by tampering with a meter.

As he left the dock Munro called across to the bench: “Cheers Gordy.”

Sentence was deferred on Munro, who admitted previous convictions, until July 26.
