Assynt Mountain Rescue Team members honoured

Northern Constabulary’s Chief Inspector Matthew Reiss has travelled to  Lochinver to attend an Assynt Mountain Rescue Team training exercise and to present eligible members of the Assynt MRT with a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. 

The Assynt MRT are all volunteer emergency services personnel and the team members who had completed at least five full calendar years of service by 6th February this year were eligible to receive this award.

Ten members were eligible - Sue Agnew (Strath Cannaird), Allan Cunningham (Scourie), Martin Hall (Achiltibuie), Peter Hardyman (Thurso), Fiona Henderson (Inverness), Bob Kerr (Melvich), Angus MacLeod (Achiltibuie), Graham McFadyen (Kinlochberive), Stewart McPhail (Tongue) and Jim Sudd (Halkirk). 

The award of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal recognises the support given by individuals in the Assynt Mountain Rescue Team to Northern Constabulary throughout Caithness and Sutherland over many years. 

All team members receiving a medal were pleased that their contribution to support the local community was being recognised.
